How AutoSplitter came to be
My mother handed me a huge cardboard box full of family relics in summer of 2012. Mostly photographs of my family from the 70's and 80's. Some of those were so interesting, funny or precious that I bought a scanner and started digitizing the best of the lot. The scanning software supplied by the scanner's manufacturer turned out to be far less than helpful. Scanning multiple photographs at once was frustratingly slow: the bundled software failed to recognize and split individual images far too often, requiring multiple preview passes for a single scan. Even after scanning, I still had to manually crop, rotate and save each file.
I searched the internet for a proper batch photo scanning software, but could not find one. Recognizing a clear demand for better software, I decided to code it myself. I spent my nights and weekends working on the product and finally released it in April 2013.
About the author
I'm Zoltán Péter, a software developer based in the European Union. My passion for coding started during the 8-bit computer era - learned coding as early as 10 years old, then kept learning new technologies. In the early 1990s I transitioned to DOS and Windows PC platforms, working heavily with assembly and Pascal. Over my carreer I've developed various desktop utilities, enterprise resource management software packages and later specialized in Business Intelligence and Data Engineering starting in 2010.
Across my decades in the software industry, I’ve built deep hands-on expertise in a vast technical stack, including Pascal, WinAPI, Python, PHP, HTML, CSS, JS, SQL, Oracle, SAP BO, Cloud platforms (Azure, Redshift), Google SEO and modern AI system integration.

Chimera Creative Studio is my solo software engineering enterprise, founded in 2004. While I have created various Windows desktop utilites and business applications over the years, AutoSplitter remains the flagship capstone of my work.
More than a decade of AutoSplitter
AutoSplitter has grown into a success far beyond what I initially imagined back when it was just a weekend hobby project. Within a few years of its release, it became a go-to solution worldwide for anyone searching for a faster, more efficient way to scan physical photos.
Today in 2026, I still regularly update and refine the software to keep up with modern Windows environments and make the software even more useful. There is always more innovation ahead!
