There are a few rules of thumb when scanning multiple photos at once for processing with AutoSplitter.- This software has been developed with flatbed scanners in mind. Scanning with handheld scanners is not recommended.
- If the background (document cover) of the photos is not a uniform, patternless surface, the automatic splitting algorithm will likely fail.
- Leave about 1 cm (1/2 inch) space between photos when scanning. Adjacent photos may be recognized as one single object instead of multiple.
- Make sure that both the document window and the cover are as clean as possible.
- Use automatic or manual calibration if the photos are not correctly divided.
- You must always use manual calibration if your scanner's background color (cover) is not white or grey.
- Only rectangular photos will be detected and clipped.
- Always scan at 300 DPI or higher resolution.
- Always scan at 1200 DPI or higher resolution if you want to print the output images.
- Calibrate/Finetune parameters will help you find more photographs automatically.
